Meet Tatyana Alanis, a committed American illustrator with her finger on the pulse.

IS THERE A PARTICULAR STORY OR AN INSPIRING MOMENT THAT LED YOU TO BECOME AN ARTIST?

I have always wanted to be an artist, ever since I was younger. No matter what job I always came back to art as something that made me completely happy.

WHAT ARE YOUR DAILY INSPIRATIONS?

I think everything around me is pretty inspiring, from my friends, family, nature, watching others interact with each other. Inspiration is everywhere to be found, if you look.

WHERE DID THE INSPIRATION FOR THIS COLLABORATION WITH MAISON 123 COME FROM? WHAT IS THE NEW ORLEANS VIBES FOR YOU ?

I recently went to New Orleans right before Maison 123 reached out to me. I loved it! The history runs deep.
It’s interesting to learn about the history of New Orleans and how it came to be what it is now.

CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THE CREATIVE PROCESS BEHIND THESE ILLUSTRATIONS?

For this project in particular I looked up the history of New Orleans and what the city used to represent and what it represents now.

From there I sketched out the city from my perspective and fine tuned it until I liked the artwork. Moved on to color and finished with animation for any artwork that needed it.

AN INSPIRING WOMAN WHO INSPIRES YOU?

My mom.

What do your illustrations reveal about you?

I hope my artwork shows that I’m sensitive to the past and the future. I think my art has many nostalgic elements that people can relate to.

Why did you decide to create illustrations?

To bring my work to life with subtle movements that enrich the character’s story.
